Protect Your Activities Online
When your abuser has access to your computer, he or she can monitor your online activity. It is best to try and use a computer that your abuse has no access to, such as at work, the public library, a friend’s computer, or an internet care. If you can only use a computer that your abuser has access to, the following steps can help stop your abuser from monitoring your online activity.
Email
Open an email account that your abuser has no knowledge of and use an email address that does not include your name. Also, choose a password that your abuser cannot easily guess.
Online Activity
Every site you go to on the internet is recorded by your internet brower’s history or cache file. If your abuser has access to these files, he or she may be able to see everything you viewed on the internet. Cookies and AutoComplete functions also gives your abuser information. Check your internet browser for instructions on how to erase these files and cookies.
